The 1st EU–Russia Innovation Forum
The 1st EU–Russia Innovation Forum will be held in Lappeenranta, Finland on 25th – 27th May 2010. The Forum will focus on four specific themes; energy efficiency, commercialization of Russian innovations, modernization of the Russian Industry and the primary objective – launching the roadmaps for the EU–Russia Innovation Cooperation 2010 – 2013.
The event will gather Finnish, Russian and European political level decision makers, business leaders and innovation experts.
Since 2005 cooperation in the field of RDI has been actively developed in the cross‐border region between South‐East Finland and the Leningrad Oblast in Russia. Initially driven by the cities of Lappeenranta and St. Petersburg, the cooperation now enters a new phase expanding across other parts of Europe and the Russian Federation.
To facilitate and manage the innovation cooperation process at all levels the EU–Russia Innovation Corridor (ERICO) was launched in June 2009. Main objective of the ERICO platform is to make best use of each other’s academic and business strengths, to share respective resources and to establish the necessary structures for optimum transfer of knowledge into innovations that are impacting EU, Russian and international markets.
For its future work ERICO has identified the following 4 major areas of activities
- Innovation Policy Dialogue
- Research and University Cooperation
- Business Cooperation
- Innovation & Business Support Cooperation
These topics will be jointly developed over the coming months and finally agreed and presented in form of roadmaps during the EU–Russia Innovation Forum meeting taking place in Lappeenranta.
The event is organized by City of St. Petersburg, City of Lappeenranta, Lappeenranta University of Technology, European–Russian InnoPartnership.
